California-based company, Essentials Dental Laboratory, is giving back by offering four Digital Marketing students at the University of Hawaii at Manoa the opportunity to gain real world experience in digital marketing asset management.
Over the course of the fall 2021 semester, students in the Master of Science in Marketing Management program will work with labs.dental’s newest laboratory, Essentials Dental Laboratory, to develop and implement digital marketing campaigns featuring a variety of media channels, including Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
“Nowadays, in the era of data and technology, students need to have precise tools and knowledge to succeed in their journey as future professionals. Supporting future generations of professionals allows labs.dental Inc. to contribute to creating a better and more professional environment for generations to come,” said Kevin Arakelyan, President of labs.dental.
The students will work with a budget of $1,000 to implement their campaigns aimed at increasing the Laboratory’s brand awareness and website traffic. At the end of the semester, these students will report their results in a presentation directly to President Arakelyan.
For UH Football Tight End, Caleb Phillips, the project seemed like the perfect opportunity to further his aspirations of working in medical sales.
“This real world marketing opportunity is such an amazing learning experience for me. As someone who would like to go into the sales and marketing side of the medical device field, I’m excited to observe and analyze which advertisement strategies we created are successful in attracting the most traffic to the Essentials website. I’m really grateful to be working with such a fun and determined group on this project.”
These kinds of partnerships also benefit the educational institutions as they work to prepare students for greater success in their chosen fields.
Constancio Paranal, Professor of Digital Marketing at Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii at Manoa said, “The opportunity to consult on and implement a digital marketing campaign with and for a company goes beyond the learning and application of theories and concepts into practice. The project affords our students the values of taking ownership, responsibility, and accountability over the success of their campaigns whilst managing client’s expectations and nurturing relationships. The company continues to search for additional ways of engaging with educators and students to give back in this way.
